Good food Ireland Food Pub Of The Year 2011

We are delighted to announce that The Oarsman won the national award for Food Pub Of The Year 2011 at the Annual Good Food Ireland Awards held recently at The Shelbourne hotel in Dublin.  Good Food Ireland’s food ethos is to prioritise the core indigenous ingredients of Irish cuisine and promote local and artisan food producers, something which is at the heart of our food philosophy here in The Oarsman.

We are delighted to announce that our suppliers Peter & Niamh from Carraig na Breac Smokehouse have recently been awarded 2 stars in the Great Taste Awards UK & Ireland 2011 for their smoked bacon which is a huge achievement in their first year of operation!   They quickly followed that up with an award for best overall producer at The Taste of Donegal Food Festival.  Every region in Ireland needs food heroes and we certainly have that in Peter & Niamh.

It’s that time of year again when we get close to seasonal change and some wonderful varieties of fresh ingredients will be available on the kitchen table offering incredible opportunities for creativity.

We are delighted to be working with Bill Hestor at Croghan Organic Garden who is supplying us with some beautiful leafs & vegetables with a view to producing our own very soon just a stone’s throw from The Oarsman, helping us keep our carbon footprint as low as we can.
